APEL for Access (APEL.A) provides opportunities for individuals with relevant work experience who may not meet the conventional academic entry requirements to pursue higher education at a Spectrum International University College. It recognises and verifies prior learning acquired through formal, non-formal, and informal learning, regardless of time or place.

Six steps for APEL.A application are as follows:

Prior to applying, applicants must confirm that they meet the minimum admission requirements established by the Ministry of Education. The basic requirements for admission to the Diploma level are as follows:
a) Malaysian citizen.
b) At least 20 years of age in the year of application.
c) Possess relevant work experience.
Applicants may refer to the handbooks provided for more information.

2. Submit the application.
Upon successful completion of the self-assessment, applicants are required to apply for APEL.A on the MQA website through the APEL.A portal at: https://www2.mqa.gov.my/apel_a/ , and select Kolej Antarabangsa Teknologi Spektrum as the APEL Assessment Centre.
Alternatively, applicants can submit an online application via the College Management System (spectrum.edu.my) , where the CDU will guide the applicant accordingly.
***Reminder:
Please be advised that all APEL.A assessment proceedings must occur directly between the candidate, the SICT, and MQA, without the involvement of intermediaries such as agents or employers. Additionally, it is imperative to note that students are prohibited from seeking external assistance or communicating with external parties during the APEL Assessment.
3. Sit for the aptitude test:
The aptitude test is a formal examination that must be passed by the applicants. Its purpose is to assess the competence of the applicants to pursue a Diploma level program at SICT. The aptitude test constitutes 100% of the overall APEL.A assessment for the Diploma level. The test structure is as follows:
